Grandmother Huld and her books

Submitted by totil on Fri, 09/18/2009 - 12:10

– I’ve never had the heart to throw away a book, said granny Huld. The amazing thing about these books is that the stuff you read in them lives on with you, she added, slipping into reverie.
– In what way? Albertina asked.
Granny Huld broke into such a big grin that more than one bucktooth was revealed this time.
– There are some books that just need to be savoured for a moment, she said, others have to be swallowed whole, and finally there are those that have to be chewed upon and digested later. But they all live inside me. Yes, I suppose you could say you are what you read.

Emiliana took the sayings a bit to seriously and had devoured two pages from an illustrated children's book about
a shitting mole when Albertina discovered the misunderstanding.
